Batten Wall

I am so excited to show you my featured wall and thankful to be able to show you exactly how I did it!
For months our dining room wall has been empty and it started to drive me crazy!
I originally wanted to do something very quick and easy. But I fell in love with batten wall and just HAD to do it!
The other thing that bothered me was the fact that we have an angled ceiling. I love the look of an angled ceiling. But when dealing with an open wall, to decorate the wall without making the angle of the ceiling stand out was difficult. But that’s a topic for another time.

So where to start?
1st Find your Batten wall inspiration (need help? go check out AngelaRoseHome , AshelyFrench and Annie for some beautiful inspiration).
2nd Design your wall.
I made a few designs and then decided on one. There are so many different designs, it is difficult to start! But once you know what you want/don’t want it’s easy!

P.S. Try and make all your angles 30°, 45° or 60° for an easier cut!

The planks I bought were 44 x 10 mm, but you could even get some thicker planks.
I am super lucky to have wooden walls that made this an easy DIY!
I used wood glue and small nails ( one day I’ll have a nail gun! ) to put the planks up!
Don’t forget to use a Wood Primer. You’ll have to use it if you want your wood to look great and last longer! ♥

Next I painted the wooden planks white (paint it the same as your wall colour) so I’ll have the same base colour. My reason why I painted the wall before putting in the angled planks on. Is so I could use a paint roller. If I would have put the angled planks in there wouldn’t have been enough space for my roller. And I didn’t want to use a brush for the entire wall.

But honestly. Choosing a paint colour was the most difficult part of this entire project! I didn’t want to use a bold colour but also didn’t want grey. But I think we’ve got the perfect colour!!
I used Duram habitat collection and the colour is called Klep Forest.

Now there is only one question left!
Should I still put in the angled planks or is it perfect as it is?
